Why did I choose to learn Japanese?

Mainly because:


In addition, Japanese is a fascinating language. The fact that Japanese seamlessly utilizes three alphabets says a lot about the cultural structure in Japan. The Japanese speaker's mindset embodies both regional pride and diversity,  harboring distinctively Japanese development, western adaptations as well as historical Chinese influences. I would love to take more Japanese classes during my years at Columbia. My ultimate goal is to become a haiku poet.
